Cheonan Three-Way Intersection

Cheonan Three-Way Intersection (Samgeori) is known as the intersection of Samnam-daero, which splits into roads going to Seoul to the north, Gyeongsang-do Province (Daegu and Gyeongju) to the south, and Jeolla-do Province (Nonsan, Gwangju and Mokpo) to the west.
There are weeping willows throughout the 207,000m² park, established in the 1970s. Seated near the pond is the Yeongnamnu Pavilion (Chungcheongnam-do Cultural Heritage No. 12), speculated to have been the gate to Hwachukgwan in the Joseon Dynasty.

Independence Hall of Korea

The Independence Hall of Korea collects, preserves and displays materials shedding light on the history of the Korean people’s fight for independence as well as the post-liberation development of Korea, and performs related research.
It was established on August 15, 1987, with the donations made by the citizens of Korea, for the purpose of maintaining the national spirit and establishing proper national views and cultural identity.

Yu gwan-sun Historic Site

This site was created to cherish the memory of Patriotic martyr Yu Gwan-sun.
It was built in 1972 and her portrait is placed in the site.
The site was nominated as 230th historic site and near the site are the signal fire site and tower she used to announce the uprising.
Right now, the annual Signal Fire Festival is held on the last day of February, and the annual Yu Gwan-sun Memorial Ceremony, held on the anniversary of her death, are held at this site

ARARIO Small City

This is the central square of Cheonan that welcomes more than 70,000 visitors a day.
It is considered a symbol of youth and hope.
In 2007, ARARIO Small City was selected as the most beautiful square in Korea, for which it was awarded the Prime Minister Award. At present, there are a total of 28 contemporary installation artworks at the Sculpture Square that are delighting the eyes of the visitors.

Heungtaryeong Dance Festival

There is a festival that presents exciting traditional dances that reveal the nature of Koreans to enjoy music and dance. The annual dance festival is held between late September and early October in Cheonan, situated in the heart of Korea.
The dance fest brings people together, regardless of age and ethnic background, and breaks down the language barrier. The festival will present wonderful experiences that enrich the soul!

Gwangdeok Walnut Festival

The Cheonan Walnut Festival is held every October under the theme of walnuts, considered a specialty product of Cheonan. There are many experience programs and exciting events in store for the visitors.
In autumn, visitors can enjoy the festival at the Gwangdeok rest spot located in Gwangdeok-myeon, and try the walnuts that are grown locally.

Ipjang Geobong Grape Festival

Cheonan, a major producer of Geobong grapes, hosts the Ipjang Geobong Grape Festival as a way to bring together the local residents in unison and help build solidarity. There are exhibits of agricultural and specialty products, and free tasting booths offering grapes and food made with grapes including grape rice cakes. Also, people can participate in diverse experience programs such as glass craftwork, handwriting and grape picking. This festival is held on a yearly basis in September.

Cheonan Seonghwan Pear Festival

The Cheonan Seonghwan Pear Festival is the largest pear festival in Cheonan, and it’s held every November. Farmers, local residents, urban dwellers and other consumers are invited to the festival, held under the theme of “Love for Pears, Love for Farming, Love for Cheonan.” Various programs are conducted including a trade show for high-quality Cheonan pears, a PR event, performances and a talent show.
